Integrating Sewers and Roads to their City-Wide Water Renewal Program
In 2003, the City of Moncton accomplished a City-Wide Water
Transmission and Distribution Renewal Program that confirmed their position
in leading-edge Asset Management. This program has demonstrated great
advantages to the well-being of the community by reducing disruptions in
service. Since then, they were looking for a way to incorporate all
initiatives done in silos for sewers and roads into a corporate program,
building out the knowledge of their assets.
Harfan Technologies was called upon to implement the Integrated Decision
Support System (Harfan IDSSTM) and to assist technical staff maximize the
use of the software. The City now has the capability to perform
State-of-the-Art Condition Assessments for all their linear assets as well
as Budget Projections of renewal needs including right-of-way (ROW) analysis.
Among the systems that the City decided to link to the Harfan IDSS we find
Hansen and ESRI ArcSDE. A pavement condition assessment performed by GIE
Technology has also been incorporated into the Capital Planning tool to
consider road conditions in the final recommendation.
