A true mark at
the Department of National Defence (DND) with innovation in identification
of Infrastructure Upgrade Requirements
PONT-ROUGE, April 16, 2004 – Harfan Technologies inc. and Dillon
Consulting Limited have announced that they have once again been retained
by DND to supply a unique Integrated Decision Support System (IDSSTM),
producing a cost-effective Capital Improvement Plan to rehabilitate the
assets of the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax. As part of the project,
future capital investment requirements will be identified and prioritized
for DND’s 12 Wing Shearwater facility in Dartmouth, N.S. This assignment
follows up on the success of a pilot program completed by the Harfan/Dillon
Team during 2003 at HMC Dockyard in Halifax.
In winning this contract, this confirm to Harfan Technologies Inc. /
Dillon Consulting Limited that they are, to their knowledge, the only
firms offering commercial software with capabilities for integrated asset
management and for the design of multi-year capital improvement plans. The
project follows up on recommendations made by Dillon as part of a previous
infrastructure evaluation program at the Shearwater site.
The decision support tool, Harfan IDSSTM, produces detailed information on
the condition of the assets, thereby allowing for optimal
investment-planning decisions. It will enable DND to strategically plan
asset repair/replace programs while acknowledging technical, operational
and budgetary considerations. Guy Doucet, President and Chief Executive
