Sarnia is taking control of aging
infrastructure
Quebec, November 2, 2004—The City of Sarnia, Ontario, is embarking on a
timely initiative, to undertake a comprehensive review of the City’s
infrastructure assets and develop short and long term capital improvement
plans to adequately maintain the level of service provided to the residents.
The capital improvement plans will be developed using theHarfan’s
Infrastructure Management Approach (HIMATM)
provided by Harfan Technologies. Our approach using such methodology and
system is to ultimately ensure that infrastructure is optimized, that funds
are spent efficiently and that adequate financial reserves are set aside for
the rehabilitation and replacement of its expanding and aging water,
wastewater and road infrastructure. The expertise required to successfully
undertake this work includes, among other things, engineering, planning,
operations and information technology (IT). The Dillon team brings together
the best resources available to successfully achieve these objectives. The
team includes Harfan Technologies, Monteith & Sutherland Limited, ASI
Technologies Inc., the Wells Infrastructure Group, ESRI Canada, Liqui-Force
Sewer Services (Ontario) Inc.
At the conclusion of this project, the City will be well on its way toward
the development of a fully integrated Asset Management Program. The City
will be presented with short and long-term capital improvement plans
produced using leading edge technology and compliant with current Asset
Management Best Practices.
Dillon brings together a team that has unique experience in the theories of
integration, risk-management and sustainability as well as “hands-on”,
practical and proven application of these concepts at the municipal
government level. The deliverable will be a decision-making strategy that
will be based on: sustainability, risk management, and integrated asset
management and planning.
